DAY 3: Arrhythmias

9.00-9.30 Session 1 The cardiac rhythm and arrhythmias — basic principles
Definition of “cardiac rhythm”, criteria for sinus rhythm.
Classification of arrhythmias, definition of “ectopic” and “premature”.

9.30-10.00

Session 2

SA nodal dysfunction and heart block

Sinus tachycardia, sinus bradycardia, sinus arrhythmia, sinus arrest, sino-atrial block.
First degree, second degree (types I and II) and third degree AV block.
2:1 AV block, high grade block.
10.00-10.30 Session 3 Ectopic arrhythmias
Atria (premature) ectopic beats, blocked atrial (premature) ectopic beats, atrial escape beats.
Nodal and junctional (premature) ectopic beats, nodal and junctional escape beats.
Ventricular (premature) ectopic beats, ventricular escape beats.
10.30-11.00 Session 4 Atrial tachydysrhthmias
